Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been in jail! Thank god I'm finally out of there. You see, I was having an affair with a married man, although I didn't know he was married! His wife started getting suspicious and followed him to our motel one night. When she found out what was going on, she shot him and then framed me! Thankfully, the private detective my family hired found a little skeleton in HER closet. I shouldn't go into details, except to say we blackmailed her into telling the truth. I was released yesterday, but I still have to testify in her trial. But that won't be too tough.

The point is, I'm out of jail now and ready to start the new semester!

LOVE,
Aaron

Today, I recieved the final weekly Apprentice schedule for the summer. It includes such nice things as a Tuesday evening off and the last day we're here we have the morning off to pack! By the way, the last day I am here is August 21st. It was so nice to see "AUGUST 21st" on the schedule. That is the last day I am here and it is on next week's schedule! I feel like its such an accomplishment. I really have done quite a bit of work this summer. It amazes me to think back on what I've done, what I've learned, and how far I've come, both as an actor and a person.

This place, the Flat Rock Playhouse, has done a lot for me. I've got points toward my Equity card. I know actors who've worked on Broadway. Most importantly, I know myself a little better and I know what I am capable of. I was feeling nervous at the beginning of the summer, way back in May. But now, here I am. I know there are things I will have trouble dealing with when its time to go back to school, but its allright, because this experience has shown me that I am strong and can handle it. I can't believe its almost time to leave! This has been terrific.

LOVE YOU and SEE YOU SOON!

Oh my gosh, I am tired! I don't think I feel very good either. I'm not sick (but I do have just a little tickle in the back of my throat), I just feel kinda "bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh." I would love to have a day off, but that won't happen anytime soon. I'll just have to go to bed early tonight, even though its Saturday.

My mom visited me this week. She rented a cottage! It was so lovely to see her. The place where she was staying had a kitchen, so she cooked! I ate real food for the first time in a while. The food here isn't too terrible, but its not too great either. It was fun to see her AND spend some time away from Flat Rock. We're down to five more weeks. One more week of rehearsal and then Children of Eden is open! WOO-HOO! I will be sad to leave, but I'll be also be happy that I won't have to do some of the stuff us apprentices have to do. Plus, there are some people at school that I miss, and I mean REALLY miss!

Every week at midnight studio someone reads a Carl Sandburg poem. This is the poem I read last night, for my mother:

"I love you,"
said a great mother.
"I love you for what you are
knowing so well what you are.
And I love you more yet, child,
deeper yet than ever, child,
for what you are going to be,
knowing so well you are going far,
knowing your great works are ahead,
ahead and beyond,
yonder and far over yet."

Isn't that sweet?

LOVE,
Aaron

You know what, I am doing very well! 1776 finished last week, and now Beau Jest is running. My only involvement with that show is I have to check the lights to make sure they are working before performance. Next week we begin rehearsals for Children of Eden and I am super excited about that! I am a storyteller and an ostrich!! Woo-hooo.

My birthday was wonderful. A little before midnight, there was a small group of us sitting in the dining hall b/c we were on break from strike. Then, some folks just started wandering in and a good size group started to form. I was happy people were gonna be in the room at midnight right it when became my birthday. Little by little, more folks kept trickling in. Next, they started to sing "Happy Birthday" but someone stopped them and said even more people were coming. I was like, what is going on? Finally, the director of 1776 hopped into the dining hall in a bunny suit, gave me a card, and she had a huge group behind her. Everyone sang "Happy Birthday" and I got an ice cream cake with sparklers! So that was my first surprise party! It was so funny. It only lasted for about 15 minutes b/c I had to go back to strike, but oh well. The following night, I was taken out to dinner and then I saw the best fireworks I've ever seen in my life! They were so pretty. Then we all went back to our housing and drank. Lovely! That was one of my favorite birthdays!

Now we have about half the summer left. Oh man, I cannot believe that. It seemed like all this time I had to be here would pass so slowly, but its truly not. The time flies. Probably because we are so busy! There's so much to do here, but its wonderful. I do miss having a normal college life, but I'll be back into that soon. This is such an incredible experience. I feel changed. I don't quite know how I'm changed yet. I'll think on it. I definitely feel stronger and more capable. And less afraid to fail. Well, maybe not less afraid, but more accepting of failure as a natural part of acting and life. After all...

"To failed is to have striven. To have striven is to have grown."

I forget who said that, but its a great quote!

LOVE YOU ALL!
-Aaron

I have come to the conclusion that life is about moving forward, not going back. Perhaps this isn't a big revelation, but I think its pretty cool when you think about it.

It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.
Tho’ much is taken, much abides; and tho’
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
TO STRIVE, TO SEEK, TO FIND, AND NOT TO YIELD.

-Tennyson

Here's a good laugh from The Golden Girls for you!

~Dorothy and Rose are discussing Dorothy's lover. Apparently, he's great in bed, but boring everywhere else!~

Dorothy: He's the best lover I ever had, but we have nothing in common except what's under the sheets.

Rose: What's under the sheets?

Dorothy (with sarcasm): His cappucino maker.

Rose: Oh! All that and CAPPUCINO too?!

HAHAHAHAH!!!

LOVE,
Aaron

PS Don't forget to write.

Yes! Opening night was excellent and was followed by a great party where I may have had too much fun...

For those of you who want to the show, but can't, don't worry! Here are all my lines. They're a little out of context, but you'll still get the jist of it.

Read: Delaware seconds!

Read: Nor for Delaware!

Read: The sensible third, Mr. Rodney.

Read: Delaware seconds!

Read: Delaware seconds, Mr. President.

Read: No, Mr. McKean! No, no, no!

Read: Among your charges against the King, Mr. Jefferson, you accuse him of depriving us of the benefits of trial by jury. This is untrue sir. In Delaware we have always had trial by jury.

Read: Oh. Then I suggest the words "in many cases" be added.

Read: Its more memorable than your unprincipled whitewash of that race of barbarians!

...there ya go! Now you've seen me!

I am really starting to feel comfortable here. There are so many excellent people. After two and half weeks, I feel very at home. I know I'm going to be very sad when I have to leave. But, it won't be too bad cuz I'll be coming back to all of you!

I love you all and miss you!

LOVE,
Aaron

Last night, I sang "Last One Picked" at the Midnight Studio (a fancy way to say "cabaret"). It was so well recieved, I was very happy! I was nervous about singing in front of everyone, even the professional actors come to this!!, but I got so many nice compliments. I'm not trying to brag, but I just wanted to tell you about something cool that happened to me down here!

Tonight is strike. We are taking down the set for Lend Me a Tenor AND putting up the set for 1776. It's gonna be long night. I'm gonna go take a nap in a moment. 1776 opens on Wednesday, at last! Wish me broken legs (even tho I only have about 10 lines!)

LOVE,
Aaron
